We had a great time shooting this adorable Save the Date video with Tammy and David! Tammy and David will be married October 29th, 2011 at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, and the reception will be held at Kim Son restaurant on Bellaire Blvd. Congratulations Tammy and David! We can’t wait to film the wedding!

Congratulations to all you newly engaged couples out there! You’re about to embark on two amazing adventures! The first, of course, being the exciting life you have ahead of you as a married couple, and the second being the exciting, though often overwhelming wedding planning process. Don’t despair though. Take a deep breath and consider these 5 helpful tips to get you off to the right start in planning the wedding of your dreams.

1. Enjoy the moment
You’re engaged! Stare at the engagement ring! Enjoy the fun of sharing the wonderful news with all those nearest and dearest! Did someone say engagement party?

2. Set the Date and Venue ASAP
Setting the date is one of the most important decisions you will make as you plan your wedding. You can’t start much in the planning process until this has been done. Once you establish the date you should start selecting your venue. Many venues are booked a year or more in advance, so the further in advance you start looking, the more likely you are to get the time, and date you’ve planned for.

3. Consider hiring a Wedding Planner
A professional planner can be invaluable in putting together your ideal day, and can often save you time and money.

4. Dress Shopping!
Many brides are surprised to learn how how long it takes to order a dress from a salon and complete alterations. You should plan on buying your wedding dress at least 9 months before your wedding date. Especially of you plan on having bridal portraits made.

5. Photo and Video
Like your wedding venue, many wedding professionals like Photographers, Videographers, and DJ’s are often booked far in advance, so start researching as soon as possible so you can find someone you feel is right for you and your event. A planner can also be a great resource in this regard as they work with these professionals often and know those that are best in their field.
